Why FiberSonixx is better

Fiber reinforced composite materials have been applied to musical instruments for decades.  So, if they are better, why haven’t they caught on?  We will look at the objections.

FiberSonixx can cut the price for carbon composite products.   Carbon composites have the reputation of being expensive.  Carbon fiber is in high demand thanks to growing markets in aerospace, automotive, wind energy, sporting goods and others.  In addition, molds are required to form the parts, which requires an up front investment.  A design must be created and the mold must be built before making the first prototype.

FiberSonixx has reduced much of the cost of composites by manufacturing in Asia.  Our carbon fiber is manufactured in Japan and shipped to our China factories.  Molds are made locally with state of the art CAD/CAM at a fraction of the cost and time it takes domestically.  Molding a product out of composites is very labor intensive.  There is considerable hand work involved preparing the materials and packing the mold.  We can accomplish all of these efficiently and cost effectively in Asia.

What is difficult for others, FiberSonixx can do.

The cost of a production ready steel mold in China is a fraction of the cost in the USA.  This allows trial of ideas and concepts that would be cost prohibitive otherwise.  Designing the parts using 3D CAD reduces lead time considerably.  We can send a part design to our factory and have a mold ready to go in less than 2 weeks.  If a 3D CAD design doesn’t exist, we can reverse engineer an existing product.  If a variety of sizes of the same part are needed, this can easily be done using the CAD software.  We can offer a fixed fee program to develop and deliver the product with no surprises.

 FiberSonixx is a low cost manufacturer of high quality, high performance products.  What is difficult and expensive to some, is routine and cost effective for us.

Although wood is the traditional favorite, FiberSonixx can provide many new materials to achieve different looks and sounds.  Wood has been long revered for its beauty.  We couldn’t agree more.  At FiberSonixx, we can offer a wide range of fabric designs to give each instrument a unique appearance.  In addition, we can modify the content, location, and orientation of these materials to achieve different tonal qualities.  If desired, we can combine these materials with wood to offer the best of both worlds.

FiberSonixx can provide materials and products that compliment wood.  Wood instruments have been around for hundreds of years.  In addition, there is a belief that wood instruments sound better over time.  At FiberSonixx, we will not debate the warm sound of wood.  Wood is beautiful and it produces a wonderful tone.  What we can offer, is an alternative material or design that often times is better than wood, or can compliment wood in a beneficial way. 

For example, we can offer a stiff neck for improved attack and sustain, or a flexible neck for more tone and warmth.  Our bracing designs can provide light, stiff reinforcement of soundboards, to improve the response and sustain.  In addition, once we optimize the performance of a particular component, we lock in the construction to ensure that quality and performance is guaranteed, part after part.

FiberSonixx designs take advantage of what carbon composite can offer.  Carbon fiber composites provide opportunities to improve the performance of existing wood counterparts.  At FiberSonixx, it is not enough to simply replace a wood part with a composite part.  Take for example our neck design.  The Fibersonixx neck is based on a double tube construction that produces a warmer tone, resists twisting, and is not affected by temperature or moisture. 

Brace yourself – FiberSonixx has a different way to brace your instrument.  Our Omega Brace TM  is very light, stiff, and maximizes the acoustical response of a wood soundboard.  This “X” shaped brace can accommodate a variety of soundboard curvatures and protects the soundboard from environmentally induced defects.

We can provide custom bracing to meet specific performance needs.
