Bracing and Reinforcements

Carbon fiber bracing is an excellent compliment to wood.  Bracing should be as light as possible to allow the soundboard to resonate freely.  With composites, we can design braces for specific performance advantages not possible with wood.

The Omega Brace ^TM is an “X” shaped carbon fiber brace with a cross section shaped like the Greek letter Omega.  The Omega Brace offers many benefits:

• It is designed to offer high stiffness with ultra light weight (30 grams). 
• The result is a soundboard with more response for better attack and tone. 
• The Omega Brace will maintain the shape of the soundboard better, resisting splitting and other environmentally induced defects.
• The Omega Brace can reduce or eliminate the need for other traditional bracing.
• The Omega Brace can accommodate different soundboard curvatures.
• Specific shapes and performance requirements can be designed.

If you need is custom, our R&D team can develop specific designs to suit your needs.  The advantage of carbon fiber is superior reinforcement using a minimum of weight and volume.  This allows for the wood components to vibrate more freely, with outstanding harmonic response.  We can fine tune the stiffness of the components to compliment the specific need, for example bringing out the weak points, or enhancing the strong points.
